On the east side of Waterloo, University Downs is a diverse neighbourhood of young families, retirees and university students. It is a sought-out place for young adults seeking student rentals. Waterloo’s college kids love it. University Downs is central to most of Waterloo’s best features, making it a great place to call home.
The homes in University Downs range from apartment towers to modest single family homes. You’ll find a variety of styles, including bungalows, townhouses, andsemis. The neighbourhood is friendly and lively with plenty of activities going on. Residents can enjoy walking trails or a skate on the community rink. University Downs Park has a huge area for playing soccer or having a picnic.
University Downs also has an active community association that stays busy all year, organizing events to bring together the neighbourhood. These events include an annual Party in the Park, neighbourhood softball games, and community-wide garage sales:
Public school children in University Downs are bussed to Bridgeport Public School for grades K-6, Margaret Avenue Public School for grades 7-8, or Bluevale Collegiate Institute for secondary school. Catholic school children attend St. Matthew’s Elementary School or St. David’s Catholic Secondary School, which scored 6.7 out of 10.
